Come see me at the development of the upcoming webcomic on Substack
I won’t be gone forever, but I don’t use Medium anymore
Dude, it’s been six months since I wrote a goodbye post on Medium… Wait, what, six months? Yeah, there were going to be plans of reviving the retrogaming blog with a new name on Substack after exporting from Medium (which eventually happened) since Imprint was shuttered in February due to DMCA complaints. When reviewing video games, anime, manga, or western animation (including fictional characters of all types of media), we need to respect the copyrights of others with the text reading “The characters depicted in this post are the property of their respective owners/creators”, or similar.
As stated earlier, Medium has shifted to a paywall model where they mainly recommend paywalled articles and the platform has also rapidly shifted away from publications as the platform now focuses on building partnerships with individual writers, the platform understandably can no longer focus on the needs of publications — and they’ll have to pay 5 USD/month or 50 USD/year to become a member on Medium. Many of us have PayPal and no Stripe. Stripe is an absolute no-no for content creators because Stripe is definitely “not an American company”.
Setting your expectations high is recommended if you want to reach higher goals
People will be happier if you set your expectations higher which is recommended, since lowering your expectations is not recommended at all because lowering your expectations lowers self-esteem, increases depression, and will be much harder for you to reach your ultimate goals before your parents or legal guardians retire or pass away due to the fact that the developmental disability officials have been on a mandatory monitoring program and will check on you if you’re alive quarterly (or monthly) while rent in the US and Canada continued to climb due to unruly or arrogant landlords kicking people out since I had to help with my dad move his stuff out of his apartment back in late June/early July. Many millennials quit their day jobs to concentrate fully on their business or artwork and comics full-time.
That’s why keeping your standards and expectations high is recommended (which can help avoid any disappointments) since you want to reach your ultimate goals prior to the September 3, 2023 deadline due to the reopening of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.
But dude… why would you have a negative attitude like this? Trolling (including complaining and mass-reporting) on the internet doesn’t let you grow your following and keeps people and potential fans or readers away from you since the internet is a public place. It’s really bad trolling or harassing people on the internet. It’s really bad using other people’s artwork or photographs (with the exception of retweets on Twitter and using photos from Unsplash, Pixabay, and Pexels), and also, it’s really bad to rant about other successful people on the forums, blogs, Facebook groups, and/or Discord servers.
We need to talk to internet giants and their Trust and Safety officials that there are autistic or somewhat-autistic people and those who have bipolar disorder on the internet and have them stop treating everyone like crap (in the case of Discord, disabling peoples’ Discord accounts and not allowing them to get their accounts back as owning a Discord server and owning a Discord account are privileges and not rights, just like driving a vehicle in all countries and not just the US alone), and possibly have them seek anger management classes and/or professional help. Abusing the administrator or moderator powers on a Discord server they either own or manage is a clear violation of Discord’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service, and the deletion of the toxic servers and the termination of their accounts must be taken by the Discord Trust and Safety team very seriously.
If you feel that the administrators or moderators of a Discord server abusing their powers, don’t wait. Don’t ignore the server! Just report the toxic Discord server to the Discord Trust and Safety team (here’s how) and email them to abuse [at] discordapp.com (replace [at] with @), or contact your local law enforcement agency immediately! You might want to go to your law firm and hire a lawyer as the lawyer will help you send a cease and desist letter to the offender(s) via email and traditional mail.
There are still no plans for Line Webtoon citing its strict policies as it is a South Korean company run by a conservative government. I want everyone to stop with “a big Instagram following is useless”, “don’t use Patreon/Ko-fi, for reasons”, “expect nothing”, and “Twitter is a hit and miss” permanently. Focusing on the follower numbers is not going to help you gain popularity. You can no longer lurk around the internet anymore if you’re not a troll and not using violence or threats on the internet. If you’re going to be realistic, it is recommended that you keep your standards and expectations high and set a realistic deadline date, which is September 3, 2023, and don’t vent your frustrations at all. This Medium account will not be deleted but will be for archival purposes.
Is this the final post on Medium since Bosque Mágico was permanently closed this week? Sure, but I don’t want a personal blog like WordPress or Ghost at all, so I would use Adobe Portfolio instead. I’m mostly on Twitter (@Samurai_Cory), Instagram (@mrsamuraicory), Behance, and ArtStation. Catch me on Twitch for art streams next week, too! If you have linked the blog posts on the Wikipedia page and/or the TV Tropes page about a specific topic as sources, send me an email to coryrobertsintokyo [at] gmail.com (replace [at] with @).
Thanks for reading, and I hope to see you on the production blog of the upcoming webcomic series on Substack and hope to launch it on both Tapas and Substack!

(Note: Comments are disabled on this post to avoid people commenting with “lower your expectations”, since lowering your expectations increases depression and will not make people happier at all — also I have no plans for Mastodon at all because I hate decentralized social media and Mastodon is based in Germany)
